What Is Drop Merge Game?
Drop Merge Game is a free browser puzzle game in the drop-and-merge genre. You drop weather elements into a container, and whenever two identical pieces touch they instantly merge into the next tier — climbing from a humble Water Droplet all the way up to a Typhoon across 12 tiers. There is nothing to download or install: open the page and play in seconds on desktop or mobile.
The game adds a dynamic twist through three random weather events — Cold Wave, Heavy Rain, and Typhoon Sweep — that fire every 45 seconds and temporarily double all merge scores. Rare element variants (Rainbow, Glacier, Aurora) appear on high-tier merges and add a further 1.5× bonus, rewarding players who plan ahead rather than drop blindly.
How to Play Drop Merge Game
Drop Merge Game is a free browser puzzle where you drop weather elements into a container and merge identical ones to climb 12 tiers — from a humble Water Droplet all the way up to a Typhoon. The full element sequence is: Water Droplet → Steam → Dewdrop → Mist → Frost → Snowflake → Hail → Dense Fog → Cumulus Cloud → Cumulonimbus → Blizzard → Typhoon.
Aim and Drop
Click inside the game to focus it, then move your mouse left or right to position the preview line. On mobile, drag your finger to aim. Click or tap to release — the element falls under gravity and settles on impact.
Merge to Score
Two same-tier pieces instantly combine into the next tier. Each merge scores tier × 10 points. Merging within one second of a previous merge triggers a chain bonus (×1.5), so rapid combos pay off fast.
Survive Weather Events
Every 45 seconds a random weather event strikes — Cold Wave, Heavy Rain, or Typhoon Sweep. All merges score 2× during an active event, stacking with chain and rare bonuses.
Danger Line
Any element sitting above the red line for 5 consecutive seconds ends the game. The container border flashes red and pulses faster as you get closer to game over — drop the stack height before it stops to save yourself.
Rare Elements and Tier 12
Merging two Blizzards into a Typhoon awards an extra 500-point bonus on top of the normal merge score. When a merge produces a Tier 6 (Snowflake) or higher result, there is a chance it becomes a Rare variant — rainbow, glacier, or aurora — worth a 1.5× merge bonus. If both pieces being merged are already Rare, the result is guaranteed Rare.

Tips to Play Drop Merge Game Effectively
To play Drop Merge Game at a high level, you need more than luck. Here are proven strategies to boost your score:
Preview Two Moves Ahead
The Next panel shows exactly which element is coming. Plan your drop around it rather than reacting after the fact — especially important when a weather event is approaching.
Hug the Walls
Side columns are stable and rarely cause overflow. Build from the bottom up, keeping your highest-tier pieces along the edges where they are easiest to merge.
Chain Before Weather Events
The event countdown bar gives you 5 seconds of warning. Stack matching elements close together before the event fires, then let the 2× multiplier plus 1.5× chain bonus combine for massive points.
Prioritize Rare Elements
When a merge produces Tier 6 or above, there is an increasing chance the result is Rare (8% at Tier 6, up to 40% at Tier 12). Merging with at least one Rare piece applies 1.5× to the score; merging two Rare pieces guarantees the result is also Rare.
Keep the Board Flat
Empty pockets between elements prevent merges and cause dangerous stacking. Keep your container as flat as possible — a flat board is far easier to control when a Typhoon Sweep hits.
Weather Events — Game Features
Drop Merge Game introduces three dynamic weather events that fire every 45 seconds. All merges score 2× during any active event, stacking with chain (×1.5) and Rare (×1.5) bonuses.
❄️ Cold Wave (8 seconds)
Gravity drops from 1.5× to 0.6× and friction spikes. At the 3-second mark, elements that have settled freeze solid; at the 6-second mark they unfreeze. Plan chain merges during the freeze window — the frozen board makes it easy to aim precisely before elements start falling again.
🌧️ Heavy Rain (6 seconds)
Four bonus elements spawn near the highest-tier piece on the board, each at one tier below the element you are currently holding. They drop at 0.8-second intervals, giving you time to position and chain them for rapid multipliers without using your own drop.
🌀 Typhoon Sweep (5 seconds)
At the moment the sweep begins, a random 1 to 4 basic elements (Tier 1–4) are instantly cleared from the board. All remaining elements are then pulled toward the center for 2 seconds before being released. The canvas tilts throughout the sweep for added visual drama.
Rare Elements — Rainbow, Glacier & Aurora
Rare elements are special variants of Tier 6–12 pieces that appear exclusively as the result of a merge — you can never drop a Rare element directly. When two same-tier pieces combine into Tier 6 or above, the game rolls a chance to make the new piece Rare. The higher the tier, the better the odds.
🌈 Rainbow
A rotating full-spectrum halo spins around the element. The ring cycles through all hues continuously, making it instantly recognizable on a busy board. Merging any piece with a Rainbow variant scores ×1.5.
🧊 Glacier
The element gains a deep-blue icy tint with slowly rotating crystalline cross lines across its face. It has a frosted, translucent appearance that overlays the base artwork. Same ×1.5 merge bonus applies.
🌌 Aurora
Six glowing violet-pink orbs orbit the element while a soft arc of aurora light sweeps around it. The colors shift between purple and magenta as the orbs move, giving it an otherworldly shimmer. ×1.5 on merge.
Rare Probability by Tier
The chance of a merge result becoming Rare increases steadily from Tier 6 to Tier 12:
- Tier 6 — Snowflake8%
- Tier 7 — Hail12%
- Tier 8 — Dense Fog16%
- Tier 9 — Cumulus20%
- Tier 10 — Cumulonimbus25%
- Tier 11 — Blizzard30%
- Tier 12 — Typhoon40%
If both pieces going into a merge are already Rare, the new element is guaranteed Rare (variant chosen randomly). Stack Rare pieces intentionally to lock in the bonus on high-tier results.
The Story Behind Drop Merge Game
One rainy afternoon, I was playing Suika Game — a falling-object merge puzzle — when I glanced out the window at a downpour. The day before had been overcast skies, then drizzle, now a full storm. It hit me: drop means both "to drop" and "a raindrop." What if a merge puzzle used the stages of water itself as elements?
That spark became Drop Merge Game — a free browser merge game where you drop and merge weather elements from Water Droplet all the way up to Typhoon. No download, no install, just open and play.
